Visiting Pets Program
Tucker, a former shelter dog here at PAWS, is now positively impacting and changing lives — dog and human — as part of our P.A.W.S. visiting pets program!
Tucker and his partner/handler, Melody, visit hospitals, nursing homes, children’s reading programs, local schools, and more. And with your help and support, more of our amazing rescue dogs will have an opportunity to become part of our program!
If you’re interested in having Tucker visit your organization or if you can help support our program, please contact Melody at (512) 470-8110 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
SPUNK & BILL
Spunk and Bill found their guardian, Christine, as young adults at the shelter where she volunteers. The dogs are the same kind but quite different in temperament. Scraggly and sweet, Bill is looking for guidance and reassurance. Streamlined Spunk is a sharp firecracker, bursting with confidence and game to tackle any challenge. They make a great team and aspire to bring smiles and cheers through P.A.W.S’ Visiting Pet Program.
If you’re interested in having Spunk and Bill visit your organization or if you can help support our program, please contact Melody at (512) 470-8110 or email@example.com.
Darla and Mojo began their beautiful relationship in February 2015 when Mojo adopted her at PAWS Shelter. Mojo was rescued from euthanasia at a kill shelter by PAWS and Melody, the shelter’s Executive Director, knew right away that Mojo was the perfect companion for Darla…and wow was she right! Darla is a RYT 200 certified yoga instructor in Austin and Blanco and has also taught Doga…Yoga with your dog! Mojo loves it and accompanies her regularly to many of her classes. His hobbies also include hiking, playing, chasing birds, sleeping and he especially loves eating. But, his favorite thing of all is seeing people and getting lots of pets (and treats).
If you’re interested in having Mojo visit your organization or if you can help support our program, please contact Melody at (512) 470-8110 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Inka Wolter – PAWS Trainer
Inka found her calling in dog training after adopting two dogs (Charlie and Fox) from PAWS that had adoption barriers starting in 2005. She began an internship at the Lee Mannix Center (now the Canine Center) shortly after and the rest is history. Inka began working as a volunteer for PAWS assisting the harder to place animals. In 2011 PAWS formally launched our PAW Up program offering in home training for adopted dogs who have trouble transitioning in their new homes. Through grant funding from both Petco and PetSmart Inka has now taken on the program as our formal trainer since 2015. This retention program drastically reduces returns to the shelter.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her dogs doing agility, scent work and physical therapy. She enjoys cuddling, grooming and spoiling them with home made treats and teaching them new tricks!
