What low cost clinics do you recommend?
PALS (Prevent a Litter) provides free or low-cost spay and neuter services and vouchers for dogs and cats belonging to low-income families. Voucher requests are available for Hays county animals but services are open to all! : Prevent a Litter

What do I do if I found an animal?
First step is to go to a local vet and check for a chip. If no chip is found, Facebook and Nextdoor are excellent resources. Lost and Found Pets of Hays County and Austin Lost and Found Pets are 2 great ones to start with as well as local community and neighborhood pages. Also check in with your local shelter or animal control:

What do I do if I lost an animal?
Accidents happen and pets sometimes get lost. Keeping your contact info current on their microchips and wearing collars with tags are the two best, quickest ways to get your pet back to you. If you’ve lost your pet be sure to call the shelters and animal control for your area. Even if your pet hasn’t shown up there, you can place a lost pet report. It’s important to check the shelter or animal control in person as your description of your pet may vary from how the shelter describes them! Call your local vet clinics and and post on local Facebook pages as well as Lost and Found Pets of Hays County and Austin Lost and Found Pets.
Rehoming
How do I rehome an animal?
PAWS shelter is not an open intake facility…we pull from community shelters, rural rescues and animal controls all across the Central Texas area and beyond!
On the rare occasion we may be able to help…you are welcome to email us at info@pawsshelter.org but please understand there is a wait list and we may not be the fastest result for you.

PASS Program
Trap & Release Programs
Does PAWS work with trap and release programs?
In order to further our mission to help homeless pets, PAWS offers spay and neuter services to our area’s cat rescue groups who provide trap and release for feral communities.
Blanco County Cat Coalition
This Blanco County non-profit volunteer group has been serving the Blanco County area since 2004. BCCC humanely traps, sterilizes, vaccinates, returns and feeds feral cats & their colonies. They also socialize and adopt out those who can become a house cat. BCCC educates the community how to humanely control the feral cat population as well as health of cats.

Thundering Paws
Thundering Paws is a local cat rescue located in Dripping Springs who provides a TNR program to the community. Community cats who are doing just fine in their territory are retuned after surgery while kittens are brought into the adoption program. In 2020, 30 cats were trapped, neutered, vaccinated, and returned. In 2021, 100 cats were retired from breeding. Thundering Paws hopes to triple that number in 2026!
