Volunteering
PAWS could not exist without volunteers! As a private, non-profit, we rely on the assistance of caring and hard-working volunteers in all of our programs. Working directly with the animals can increase their chances of adoption by providing additional human contact. Volunteers also help us inform the community of PAWS goals and promote responsible pet ownership.
As a volunteer you can walk dogs, hang out with cats, help us with yard work and other maintenance items, work adoption events, help with animal bios and pictures and for those with a medical background…ask about our surgery days! For those looking for a way to help the animals but the shelter environment isn’t for you, volunteer your time at The Wimberley Village Thrift store which turns your hours into monthly funds for PAWS.

Volunteer orientation is $25 for all attending and you can pay cash, check or credit card on the day of your orientation. Click below and get started:

Attend Orientation
Register and attend an orientation. During our roughly 1 hour long orientation you will learn about PAWS, how each campus runs, how to safely handle our animals and all the different ways you can volunteer your time. The registration fee is $25 includes a volunteer t-shirt!
Volunteer!
You’re ready to volunteer! We ask for a commitment from you of 3 hours a month…if you lapse more than 6 months, we ask that you retake orientation. It is paramount that we all treat volunteers, staff, potential adopters and most importantly, our animal with kindness and respect…we have a zero tolerance policy!
Volunteer Age
Volunteers must be at least 12 and kids 12 – 15 are required to have their parent attend orientation with them and to volunteer with them. Please note, kids 12 – 15 are not allowed to enter runs or hold leashes.
Volunteers 16 and 17 are able to come volunteer on their own but their parent must attend orientation with them.
