Cat Adoption Counselor
PAWS is currently seeking a Cat Adoption Counselor for one of our off-site adoption locations in Southwest Austin. This individual will be responsible for finding great homes for our cats and kittens while creating a positive experience for prospective adopters. Applicant must have previous cat experience and some knowledge of animal health/behavior. The applicant must also be prepared to volunteer for one full shift with another PAWS adoption counselor as part of the interview process. Weekends are required. No exceptions.RESPONSIBILITIES:

Monitoring the health of the animals on an ongoing basis, rapidly identifying any health problems or conditions (medical or behavioral) and letting the direct manager/vet tech know of these issues.

Foster Coordinator
PAWS Shelter of Central Texas (PAWS) is seeking an outstanding candidate to fill the position of Foster Coordinator. Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to promote the development of partners for the foster program. Recruit, interview, and screen foster volunteers in coordination with the Volunteer Coordinator.
Assure that all foster volunteers and assistant staff receive the necessary training and support to perform their foster care responsibilities.
Serve as main contact for all foster homes. Manage placement and care of all foster animals.
Oversees movement of shelter animals into foster care.
Coordinate with assistant staff to ensure foster coverage seven days a week.
Properly identify all animals and ability to maintain proper paperwork and accurate control of all foster supplies.
Oversee the receiving and discharging of animals.
Oversee the scheduling of foster animals for proper vaccine and health check-ups, surgery appointments, and attendance of foster animals at offsite adoption events.
Oversee the treatment, vaccination, and medication to those animals designated for treatment.
Assist in tours, lectures, public education programs, special events and fundraising activities as needed.
Taking phone calls after hours from foster families as needed.

• Coordinates with Operations Manager when schedule overlap occurs with front office to avoid overtime and planning for events and vacations
The Kennel Supervisor reports to the Operations Manager. This position requires working 32-40 hours per week in a shelter kennel environment with all levels of temperaments. Must be able to handle reactive dogs & dogs with behavioral issues, including aggression. We are a true no kill facility & are looking for someone with the same mission to perform daily tasks & put the dogs' needs 1st. Must be an independent person that is a self starter & follows direction, while not being afraid to make & carry out approved suggestions. The Kennel Supervisor works closely with direction from Operations Manager in all aspects of the kennel.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Personnel
• Assists in interviewing and assists with training new employees. Supervises personnel in the proper cleaning and animal handling techniques. Leadership
• Encourages skills development in subordinate staff through training and behavior modeling. Provides scheduled performance appraisals and provides counseling when needed.
Inventory and Equipment Maintenance
• Contacts appropriate vendors / workers / volunteers to complete needed repairs. Coordinates repairs with Operations Manager if needed. Supervisory duties
• Responsible for supervision of all kennel staff, community service, and volunteers. Advises Operations Manager of any and all conflicts that may arise.
• Coordinates with Volunteer Coordinator on projects where volunteer assistance is needed
FACILITY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kennel Sanitation
• Responsible for maintaining kennel sanitation and cleanliness standards in accordance with recommendations from Texas Department of State Health Services and by the Standard Operating Procedures established by PAWS.
Facility Maintenance
• Oversees building and facility maintenance.
• Organizes projects with the help of the Operations Manager. Advises and takes direction from Operations Manager for large projects over $100.
ANIMAL CARE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Daily Care
• Responsible for the daily feeding, watering and care of all animals in the shelter.
• Ensures that sick and/or injured animals are separated from healthy ones.
Adoption
• Coordinates with the veterinary technicians to insure the health of adoptable animals.
• Advises veterinary technicians when animals show symptoms of disease.
Behavior
• Advises Operations Manager on any aggression issues noted in dogs.
• Recognizes and takes action when signs of kennel stress, food/toy aggression are noted.
• Keeps staff informed by adding behavior notes to EODR when needed.
• Updates front office staff's behavior board when needed.
• Coordinates with PAWS Trainer when the need arises after consulting Operations Manager.
This work is performed in a kennel setting, which is often noisy. Some of the work may be physically demanding, intense and challenging. Employees may be exposed to injury, disease and/or infection from the animals they attend. Animals must be cared for daily, therefore shift rotation is employed, hours can be irregular and you must be available to work weekends and holidays.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Six months of paid work experience handling animals in an animal hospital, shelter, or related animal facility.
• The ability to work humanely with aggressive, frightened animals is necessary.
• Previous management of a team is preferred.

• Valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record

Front Office Administrator / Backup Veterinary Assistant
This is a unique position that we are hoping to find the right team member to fill. The primary role for this position is for our Dripping Springs office as an administrator/adoption counselor. This role requires an individual with great communication, customer service (for humans and pets), and strong data entry and written skills. Our service to these precious animals is to ensure we do everything we can to keep them well organized so that they can receive all necessary veterinary care and find homes quickly with accurate details about their lives. This position requires proficiency in email, phone, and in-person communication with potential adopters, as well as individuals seeking information about animal welfare, among other things.
The secondary role is to assist as a backup veterinary assistant. The majority of the medical work is done by our Head of Medical and another veterinary assistant. We are seeking someone with veterinary clinic or shelter knowledge that can assist on Fridays with administering pre-prescribed medications and handling any small medical needs that may arise (potentially including vaccinations, blood draws for testing, wound care). Additionally, this person would be trained to help our recovery team on Wednesdays during our spay and neuter clinic.

This is a full-time position at our Dripping Springs shelter (2965 FM 165, Dripping Springs) that requires weekends and some holidays.
Duties Include:
• Screening potential adopters, helping to match pets to adopters, and processing adoptions
• Data entry of all animals and their medical histories into our database; experience with ShelterLuv is a plus.
• Basic computer knowledge, most importantly Google Apps.
• Daily verbal and written communication with public and staff over the phone, direct contact or email.
• Daily cleaning requirements for public areas, front office and cat room.

• Previous work with rescue groups or humane societies a plus, but not required

PAWS Shelter Marketing/Volunteer Coordinator

At PAWS Shelter of Central Texas, we attribute much of our success to the strength of our marketing and volunteer programs. This position will contribute to existing marketing/Volunteer programs, while assisting with the development of new initiatives aligned with company mission and strategic plan. This individual will have prior experience with a wide range of marketing/volunteer functions, including communications, advertising, branding, digital marketing, and social media. The marketing/volunteer coordinator must be an organized multitasker able to handle many diverse projects at once and meet tight deadlines.
Objectives:
• Assist in the development and implementation of the company’s brand strategy and volunteer programs
• Ensure all marketing efforts serve to achieve immediate and long-term business goals, identifying and executing improvements for processes, content, and increase public image and presence and increase the capacity of the volunteer program.
• Prepare marketing/volunteer activity reports and metrics for measuring program success thru Social Media analytics, ShelterLuv reports and DonorView and PAWS KPI’s.
• Provide market research, forecasts, competitive analyses, campaign results, and consumer trends
• Support the maintenance and development of internal tools, including a credentials database, tracking capability and marketing/volunteer contact directory.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
• Conduct research to analyze market trends, customer behavior, and competitive landscape, and prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data from current data bases internal and external - i.e., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Constant Contact.
• Support the Executive Director and General Manager in evaluating and establishing the marketing/volunteer plan and strategy by assembling and analyzing current programs, setting objectives, planning and organizing promotional presentations, and updating calendars to ensure proper forecasting.
• Communicate campaign objectives, timelines, and deliverables to Executive Director and General Manager and provide instructions for use or promotion along with timelines of program launches.
• Plan and manage the annual marketing/volunteer calendar by identifying, assembling, and coordinating requirements, establishing contacts, developing schedules and assignments, and coordinating mailing lists for direct mail or events as needed along with offering volunteer orientations as needed.
• Maintain and inventory of marketing/volunteer support materials, ensuring all resources are current and accurate, and coordinate the creation of new materials as needed (rack cards, program info cards, event flyers, etc)
• Maintain a Media/Volunteer Directory and expand the contacts to include all counties in Central Texas that we serve to include, newspapers, online calendars, TV, Radio and social media platforms.
• Set up an auto posting mechanism through on line software for all content going to donor base, general public, Management on a weekly/monthly basis determined by the annual marketing calendar.
• Develop and define the Voice of PAWS Shelter messaging and ensure it is in line and on brand with the mission and the strategic plan of the origination.
• Identify marketing partners/volunteers and stakeholders that can be explored for co-marketing events or programs – Vet Clinics, Restaurants, Sponsorship opportunities.
• Develop and expand our presence and volunteer opportunities within all the local communities we support thru introductions, direct mail, postcards, or other communication mechanism available.
• Utilize all resources such as Chamber memberships to engage the public with current programs through weekly newsletters or in person meetings/events.
• Develop and implement a volunteer social media program based on the Best Friends models to gather content and keeping organizations relevant in the marketplace.
• This position will be responsible for refining and evolving our social media presence to continue offering engaging content across all social platforms and communities through a volunteer Social Media team.

Skills and Qualifications:

Development Director
Job Description:
If you have a passion for being part of a non-profit organization, PAWS Shelter of Central Texas (Kyle/Dripping Springs) seeks a Development Director to be part of the team. You will be responsible for building lasting relationships with donors, and keeping them informed on how their financial support is making this non-profit (PAWS Shelter of Central Texas) a better place. The Development Director will identify and prepare grant opportunities as well as set and achieve fundraising goals, maintain knowledge of fundraisers’ interests, and cultivate relationships with fellow employees and volunteers. The Development Director will work closely with the Director of Operations and support operations through marketing and fundraising efforts at both locations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Collaborate with Board of Directors and Director of Operations to develop and implement strategies aiming to promote the organization’s mission and “voice”
● Identify and implement grant opportunities that fit with PAWS programs or objectives
● Ensure the organization complies with regulatory and legal requirements related to fundraising, grants, and tax reporting issues
● Build and protect PAWS interest through Chamber memberships and other community partners so as to strengthen PAWS’ position in community
● Furnish board with regular progress reports
● Manage fundraising and special events
● Collaborate with a network to identify and build relationships with new/existing donors and sponsors
● Develop annual marketing calendar and implement monthly programs and share with the Board of Directors and Director of Operations
