Cat Adoption Counselor
PAWS is currently seeking a Cat Adoption Counselor for one of our off-site adoption locations in Southwest Austin. This individual will be responsible for finding great homes for our cats and kittens while creating a positive experience for prospective adopters. Foster Coordinator
PAWS Shelter of Central Texas (PAWS) is seeking an outstanding candidate to fill the position of Foster Coordinator. This person will oversee the PAWS' animal foster care program, ensuring safe, efficient, and compassionate care of animals in foster care, supervision of foster volunteers and paid foster program assistant(s), necessary communication with other departments of the organization as it relates to the foster program, and other shelter operations task as assigned.
About PAWS Shelter of Central Texas: Located in Kyle, Texas PAWS is a no-kill, non-profit animal sheltering/animal welfare organization providing care to around 1,200 animals every year. PAWS is growing rapidly and we are looking forward to opening a second location in Dripping Springs in the fall of 2018.
JOB DESCRIPTIONJOB TITLE: Foster Coordinator DEPARTMENT: Shelter Operations ACCOUNTABILITY: Executive Director FUNCTION:The primary responsibility of the Foster Coordinator is for the oversight and management of the PAWS Shelter of Central Texas' foster program, ensuring safe, efficient, and compassionate care of animals in foster care, supervision of foster volunteers and paid foster program assistants, necessary communication with other departments of the organization as it relates to the foster program, and other shelter operations task as assigned. This role includes two days working in the front office alongside another staff member.
FOSTER COORDINATOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for accurate and timely record-entry including entry of medical treatments and surgeries, foster family information, statistical reporting of the program including but not limited to number and type of animals enrolled into program, number of foster homes, and reasons for animals in care.
Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to promote the development of partners for the foster program. Recruit, interview, and screen foster volunteers in coordination with the Volunteer Coordinator.
Assure that all foster volunteers and assistant staff receive the necessary training and support to perform their foster care responsibilities.
Serve as main contact for all foster homes. Manage placement and care of all foster animals.
Oversees movement of shelter animals into foster care.
Coordinate with assistant staff to ensure foster coverage seven days a week.
Properly identify all animals and ability to maintain proper paperwork and accurate control of all foster supplies.
Oversee the receiving and discharging of animals.
Oversee the scheduling of foster animals for proper vaccine and health check-ups, surgery appointments, and attendance of foster animals at offsite adoption events.
Oversee the treatment, vaccination, and medication to those animals designated for treatment.
Assist in tours, lectures, public education programs, special events and fundraising activities as needed.
Taking phone calls after hours from foster families as needed.
Perform all duties in the prescribed manner and assures the safety of oneself and others.
Responsibly communicate principles that convey and impart an understanding of the policies and procedures of PAWS Shelter of Central Texas to the public.
Treat animals humanely, with compassion and concern both on and off the job, and transmit these values to others.
Provide orientation materials to all foster and rescue volunteers plus coordinate training sessions as needed. Use and train foster volunteers on low stress restraint and handling techniques on the animals for and during treatment as well as when moving animals from and to cages.

Monitor health and behavior of animals in foster care and consult with medical team or partner veterinarians as needed.

PAWS Shelter of Central Texas is a No-Kill shelter for dogs and cats and is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to work with both our cats and dogs at our Kyle Shelter (500 FM 150 - Kyle, TX) and our Dripping Springs Shelter (2965 FM 165 - Dripping Springs, TX). This individual must be self-motivated and reliable and MUST BE ABLE to administer vaccinations, subcutaneous fluids, medications, draw blood and perform general physical examinations on all dogs and cats.
