COMMUNITY SPAY AND NEUTER COALITION
With combined efforts from PALS, CatTip Hays, PAWS Wimberley TNR, Blanco County Cat Coalition, and PAWS Shelter of Central Texas, community cats and other pets in need in our area are able to be spayed or neutered and returned to their community. These programs help reduce pet overpopulation and make a safer environment for everyone.
With the opening of our surgery clinic at our Dripping Springs location, we immediately set our sights on how we could assist our community. Our first step in this endeavor was to set up partnerships with local feline Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) programs. Together, we have been able to spay or neuter hundreds of community cats that would otherwise be reproducing in uncontrolled numbers. Recently, we have also been able to assist with large breed, owned dogs that belong to low-income families. Below are the amazing organizations we work with to help solve the homeless pet crisis in our community.
Prevent-a-Litter (PALS)
PALS provides free or low-cost spay and neuter services and vouchers for dogs and cats belonging to low-income families. Through utilizing the surgery clinic at PAWS, PALS is able to take on large breed dogs that are difficult to fit in other clinics. CatTip Hays supports free Spay and Neuter of cats in 4 determined San Marcos neighborhoods of Victory Garden, Blanco Gardens, Dunbar and Barrio Pascado/Wallace Addition- for more information or to schedule an appointment email cattiphays@gmail.com
CatTip Hays has a fund set up directly through PAWS. If you would like to contribute to this fund, which allows CatTip Hays to continue providing TNR services, please click here.
PAWS Wimberley TNR
The PAWS Wimberley TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) Program provides low cost or free spay/neuter surgeries along with vaccinations and flea prevention for community and feral cats in the Wimberley area. The cats are humanly trapped, kept covered in a climate controlled area until time for their surgeries, and then monitored for 24 hours while they recover from the anesthesia. Once ready, they are released in the same location where they were trapped. This program has provided spay/neuter services to over 1500 cats in Wimberley in the last 10 years. For services or more information, please contact Marcia Sanderson at msanderson@mail.utexas.edu or text to 512-757-3821.
